Awards Games and Banquet – February 27

award-ribbonUnit 163 is excited to inaugurate an Awards Banquet and games. Each year medallions are given by ACBL for unit winners of the Ace of Clubs and Mini McKenney competitions. Previously these awards were handed out at sectional tournaments, sometimes announced and sometimes not. Well, the Unit 163 Board Members want to change that to make it a celebration!

On Saturday, February 27, we will hold two unit charity bridge games (rated 80% sectional points) with an awards ceremony and catered dinner between games. The first game will start at 1:00 and the second at 6:30, leaving time for a delicious meal and a celebration of winners (along with those who became Life Masters in 2015.) If we have enough participants we will have two sections for each game, Life Masters and Future Life Masters.

The Ace of Clubs and Mini McKenney race final results will be released in February. (Preliminary results: Ace of Clubs; Mini-McKenney. ) These are not just awards for the big name players. There are thirteen categories in each race starting with 0-5 points.

All Unit 163 members are invited to Glovik Hall in Cedar Rapids to applaud and celebrate achievers of all levels. The event flyer is available here or from board members at your local clubs. The cost for the entire event (two games and a meal!) is a very reasonable $20.

Did you catch the word ‘charity’ in the name of the games? As an added benefit, some of the entry fees will go to charity. This is a not-to-be-missed event! Please RSVP to MaryAnn Boardman at 319-540-4206 or so that we know how many dinners to order. You don’t want to miss this celebration!
