First Award Banquet Honors Unit 163 Members

vector-award-ribbonThe first Unit 163 Awards Banquet was held in Cedar Rapids on Feb. 27, 2016. As a gift from the board members, about 60 people enjoyed two sessions of bridge, an awards ceremony and a delicious catered dinner. The board members provided the publicity, organization, set up and hospitality.

Recognition was given to those who had achieved life master in the last two years, the highest point winners in our sectional tournaments (both Life Masters and Non-Life Masters), and the winners of 2015 Ace of Clubs and Mini McKenney awards. The Ace of Clubs and Mini-Mckenney have 13 different categories of points from 0-5 to over 10,000. It was great fun to honor and applaud those winners!

As if that wasn’t enough, some of the proceeds went to charity. About $60 goes to an ACBL charity and an equal amount our local choice, Multiple Myleoma.

Bill Kent was a great director and donated his time. Bob Otto who sponsored the winners from his club by paying their entrance fee. Thanks so much to these two, everyone who attended, and to the Unit 163 Board of Directors for sponsoring this event. It was, indeed, a gala, fun-filled event! We’ll look forward to doing it again.
