2019 Awards Banquet

Our fourth Awards Banquet was held on March 2 in Cedar Rapids. About 60 people enjoyed playing bridge, eating a catered dinner, and applauding many award winners. We had 10 new Life Masters to honor, five of whom attended. We applauded the top point winners from Unit 163 sectionals. Mini McKenney medallions and Ace of Clubs certificates were awarded to the top in each of 15 categories.

Bob Otto was honored with his huge milestone of 10,000 points, making him the second Platinum Life Master in our unit.

We announced our new charity, Parkinson’s Foundation. Part of the entry fee went to this charity. There was also a unique bridge trivia raffle. Participants bought entries and all the that money went to Parkinson’s.

Bill Kent directed the two enhanced point games. Winners can be found on the unit web site.

Unit 163 board members worked to bring this event to its members. It was a great celebration of bridge!
